Ben had been sick and stuck in the house for about a week when the doctor finally gave him the all clear. So I decided that it was time for a family adventure to spend time together and soak up some sun! So with some help from a friend and some preparation... we were off!
We left right after school and got to the campground around lunch time. With the weather being so warm we decided to head out and talk a walk/hike. We ended up finding this fun picture spot and park. The boys loved the park and had the best time playing and laughing. It was so great to see Ben running and playing again after being so sick the past week.

After the park, the boys wanted to check out the beach. So we threw off our shoes and hit the beach.
After we explored the beach, the boys were getting hungry and it was almost dinner time so we set up the trailer and got ready for dinner.
The first night for dinner, we roasted our own hot dogs with fruit, chips and pasta. The boys thought making their own dinner was the coolest thing ever.
After our bellies were full we played the boys played some Uno while mommy cleaned up dinner and got ready for s'mores. Then we all played Uno (about a million times haha) while we enjoyed our yummy dessert.
By 7:30p the boys were wiped out, in bed, and asleep so I enjoyed some down time and read a book by the fire.
The next morning, the boys sat by the fire, drank some hot chocolate, and snuggled with their blankies while I made breakfast.
By 9:30am we were at the beach, exploring, collecting, and playing because the weather was already so warm. Saturday we spent the whole day playing at the beach.

Ben's friend Andon came to play at the beach for a couple hours.
It was so fun to watch them play: boys play so different than girls
but it was non-stop giggles

For dinner Saturday night we ate at this great little hole in the wall burger, fries and shake place. It was so good and within walking distance. Apparently both boys were tired though because they both fell asleep while eating- which had me cracking up!
So after dinner, we headed back and the boys went right to bed and were sound asleep within minutes. So I sat back, read a book and watched the sunset.
The next morning, we spent a long time snuggling and talking about all our favorite things we had done or seen so far. Then after eating breakfast, we were back at the beach by 9:30am collecting more shells and exploring tide pools.
Soon, though it was time to clean up, pack up and head home.
Thankfully, the boys were very helpful in the clean up process.
I wasn't sure going into this idea of mine that I would be able to pull this off (camping with 2 boys by myself ), but the boys did fantastic and just had a blast. There were definitely some learning curves but I just reminded myself to keep laughing no matter what happened and that it would all be worth it for the boys.. and it was! It was SOOO worth it. They are already asking when we can go back haha!
