Bundle of Love
My great friend Nicole let me borrow this wrap for Nathan (it's called a kangaroo wrap). Nathan just LOVES being in here! I use it if Nathan is fussy when I am trying to make dinner or do other things around the house and when we go out- he just falls asleep within minutes of being in here. Well I guess it was too hot today because I kept looking down and seeing him stick his little feet out. These little feet are just too cute!

It's Official!!!
At 2 1/2 years old Ben has officially learned to ride a bike. He has no training wheels (never has) and can balance and pedal all on his own. I think this is so cool, there are not too many kids this age that can do this- this kid amazes me! So proud of you buddy! I love you Ben!

Monday Night Fun
Every Monday night Ben and Nathan go over to my parents for a couple hours to play and have special grandpa/grandma time while I go teach at Cal State Channel Islands. Even though I miss them while I am gone, it is great to know that they are busy having fun!

On our way home tonight I looked back and found Ben like this:

Getting Down to Business
Ben is a very sweet, kind, sensitive, loving, empathetic, funny boy and is always trying to please others. However I think that all the attention that the baby has been getting and requires is starting to effect Ben and I have been noticing the past 2-3 weeks that he is acting out more. So we have decided that it is time to get to business and get him back on track before we get too far off track. We love Ben and want him to grow up to be a Godly example to others and this means making good choices, even at age 2.
1. We have posted routines so Ben knows what to expect. We used pictures to help him since he can't read yet. The times are not really exact but more just for estimation. So far he really likes them and loves to look at the pictures.

2. We came up with house rules that were simple and easy but made our expectations clearly known. We posted them so that they would remind us as much as they would remind Ben.

3. We came up with consequences for poor choices and posted them so that as parents we would be on the same page and could remain consistent for Ben.

4. We also came up with a system for good choices. Each time Ben makes good choices he earns stickers for a little sticker chart. When his sticker chart is full (12 stickers) he gets to go to the store and pick out a toy.

The First of Many
As requested by Ben, the boys took their first bath together tonight. The past couple weeks Ben has been really good about helping me give Nathan a bath in the mornings so tonight when he asked if Nathan could take a bath with him I thought sure why not, lets give it a try. Ben thought it was the coolest thing and was so sweet to Nathan. He kept drizzling water on Nathan's belly and legs to keep him warm- so sweet!

Nathan just LOVES his bath time. He just kicks his legs and makes funny faces.

Splish Splash
Funny Saying By Ben
Lately Ben has really been saying funny things and I know that as Ben gets older and time passes we (as parents) will forget some of the funny things that he says so I thought I better write about them so we can always look back and remember. So here are just a few of the funny things that Ben has been saying lately:
*Everything is "really" lately
-I really love eating
-I really love books
I think this is really cute but sometimes he comes up with funny ones too. The other day I was cleaning the bathroom and he tells me "I really love clean pottys" (WHAT? You're 2, you don't know the difference haha)
-Other times he just melts my heart with comments like this "I really really love mommy"
*I have started telling Ben lately that he is more than just a big brother he is my "special boy". He just loves this and will ask me at least once a day if he is my special boy and I will always hug him and remind him that he is. Well the other day after reminding him that he is my special boy our conversation continued on like this:
Me: "Ben do you know why you are my special boy?"
Ben: "Yeah"
Me: "Why?"
Ben: "Because I make mommy laugh"
Me: "Yes you do make mommy laugh but why else"
Ben: "um.... (then he yells) I'm AWESOME!!!!)
(I guess he doesn't have self esteem issues haha)
*Ben is really into peeing standing up and he is actually pretty good at it so I always let him try on his own (he's gotta learn sometime right???) The other day while peeing on his own I hear this from the bathroom:
Ben: "mommy, sorry mess"
Me: (walking in and seeing a couple drops on the seat) "uh oh, what happened"
Ben: (shrugging his shoulders and sighing) "um I don't know, my wiener broken"
(I was cracking up!!!)
*We went to the dr last week for Ben's 2 1/2 year old check up. They asked him to pee in a cup for a urine sample (this was the first time Ben had gotten to pee in a cup). So off he went with Daddy to the bathroom. When he came back he told me all about how he got to pee in a cup (apparently this was a pretty cool thing to him, haha). Well when the dr came in, he started asking Ben a series of questions to see where Ben was at developmentally. Some of the questions were naming animals, colors, could he jump, balance, etc.
Then the dr started asking Ben questions about his day and one of the questions went like this:
Dr" "Ben what do you use a cup for?"
Ben: "Um... for pee"............... LOL!!!!!
Next question:
Dr: "Ben what do you say when it's time for Bed?"
Ben (he yells the following): "mommy, I need water, mommy I need potty" (LOL- this is actually what he does)
