Ben and Daddy

Today Ben had to get his 6 month shots. He was so sad so we went and took lunch to Daddy to cheer Ben up. Daddy works right by the beach so we sat at the beach and ate lunch, it totally cheered Ben up and it was a perfect afternoon. Ben loves his Daddy sooooo much!!!!

Eating Cheerios with Daddy

There are so many different ways to eat a cheerio. Apparently, this is Ben's favorite way. If you look close, you can actually see Ben catch one on his lip :)

7 Months Old

I can not believe that Ben is 7 months old today! That is just pain crazy!!! I can not believe that he is now closer to being 1 year old than he is to being brand new. I can still remember him being itty bitty and I must admit that I miss it but I am also having fun with his new tricks and games. Babies are just so much fun, I just wish it would slow down a little :)

More updates

So basically since I have a few days off work, I thought it would be a great time to disenfect all his toys, pacifiers, and anything else he puts his mouth on. Hopefully this will help get rid of some of the germs and help him get better :)
Pacifier soup anybody???

Also, look at this big boy eating cherrios for the first time. YUMMY!!!

Happy Valentines Day

On Thursday our young moms Bible study group took all of our little ones to a local nursing home along with flowers and valentines. It was so cute to watch the little ones that walk, take valentines to the elderly and just watch their faces light up with excitement. I think that it is so important to teach our kids that giving is more important than receiving. This was Ben's first time (obviously) but it is something that I would like to continue doing every Valentines Day- sharing God's bountiful love through the small heart of a little child.

Our Little Flirt

We found this little shirt for Ben for Valentines Day and it seemed to be perfect for him- he is always batting his cute little eyes and flashing a smile at somebody :) I love this little boy!!!

By the way, aren't these just the best little slippers??? (HA HA!!!)

Ben's Check Up

So Ben was back at the doctor's for a check up since he has been sick- unfortunately, he is still not better. Poor little guy, has been so sick lately. So in hopes of getting him better, we are going to try a new medication in his breathing treatments and a new medicine that we hope will work within the next 3 days. Thankfully, I have a good chunk of time off work becuase of the holidays to take care of him and help him get better.

Ben Visits the Barber! (aka: Daddy)

Today Daddy decided that Ben needed his first haircut. So he set up a barber shop on the kitchen counter and got started. At first Ben was not sure and mommy was really not sure, I love his little baby hairs, they are so cute and curly. Anyways, Daddy gave Ben the whole treatment: wash, dry, cut and style. I sure miss those little baby hairs but I have to admit he is one handsome little guy!!!

WHATS A HAIRCUT DADDY?

First Blowdry (gotta love the head back and eyes closed pose, haha)

AFTER: MY LITTLE BOY IS GROWING UP

Ben's 6 mo. Update

Today was Ben's 6 month check up. He is 18lbs, 14oz; 27 1/2 inches long, and his head is 14 1/2 inches around. That means that he is in the 80% for his height, 60% for his weight, and 40% for his head diameter. He is doing great as far as developmental milestones and overall well being.

However his bout with RSV seems to have come back. He is super congested and wheezing so the doctor gave him a breathing treatment when we were there and sent us home with a machine to continue the breathing treatments 3x a day for the next week. We will go back in a week to make sure that it is working. This is good because I want him to get better but also sad because I hate giving him medicine and seeing him not feel well. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers over the next week.

Please also keep me in your prayers. I am feeling really torn about being a working mom. I am struggling because when I am at home with Ben I feel like I am always stressed to be doing stuff for work when I really just want to play with him; but when I am at work, all I can do is wonder what he is doing and I miss him. Teaching part-time middle school, tutoring, and teaching 3 courses at CSUCI is a lot to have on my plate at once with a new little guy at home and I just feel like I worked so hard to get Ben and now I do not get to spend time with him like I would like. I am really torn but I know that working is what is best for my family at this time and I really do love the work I do, I just wish I felt like I do a better job . . at all of them :(

Prayers Please

Please keep Ben in your prayers . . . he had an allergic reaction to this new medicine we put him on for his ear infection. He is absolutely miserable and it just breaks our hearts. Please keep Ben in your prayers that he would get better fast and get some much needed rest.

Is there a doctor in the house???

Paging Dr. Doden . . . Paging Dr. Doden! Well, we have a doctor in the family (Mike Doden) but as cool as that is, I have decided that it really does us no good when he lives in Virgina :(

Unfortunately, Ben is sick again with another ear infection. I am not sure why or how he keeps getting them but it sure is sad. So we have been taking care of our sick little peanut this weekend trying to help him feel better. Lucky for us, even when he is sick, he is still cute and funny :)

And as a side note, for all my mommy friends out there, I thought you would get a kick out of the following comic :)

Mommy quote of the day:
"Before you were conceived, I wanted you. Before you were born, I loved you.
Before you were here an hour, I would die for you. This is the miracle of life."
