A Merry Little Marriage

When Christmas rolls around each year, I find that it is very easy to get wrapped up with all the things that go into making Christmas so special. There is baking, decorating, Christmas card writing, shopping, downloading Christmas songs, sipping hot festive drinks, and visiting with friends and family. And in addition to all those things (and more) I find that I tend to focus on making Christmas really special for my kids, constantly trying to find new crafts, cookie recipes, or books for them to keep the Christmas spirit exciting for them.
Well recently it dawned on me that all this hustle and bustle often distracts me from something, or should I say somebody, very important: my hubby! Because after all  he isn't just an elf I can send out to run errands for me during this crazy holiday season- he is my partner, my friend, my HUSBAND! So this Christmas I wanted to do something special to show my husband just how much he is loved and cherished and what a gift he is to me. This Christmas season I am starting something new, I am calling it "A Merry Little Marriage".

I have created 24 cards leading up to Christmas and they are made up of 5 categories  compliments, family nights, date nights, acts of service (ie: back rub, make his fav dinner), and "couple time". Each morning (Dec 1-24) hubby gets to open a card and see what's on that card and on card 25 (Dec 25)- there is a special letter from me to my hubby.
A Merry Little Marriage Project
I have hung this project up in a place where we will both see it often and be reminded, even in the hustle and bustle, to really cherish each other this holiday season. It is my hope that through this project, my husband will be reminded just how much I care about him and love him. Happy holidays everybody and I hope you all have a "Merry Little Marriage" this Christmas season!

Christmas Tree Lighting

Tomorrow is Dec 1, which in my book, is the official start of the Christmas season and what better way to start it off than by going to see the Christmas Tree lighting? So tonight we packed up all our blankets, hats, warm jackets and warm drinks and headed out. Our friends brought Subway dinner for us all and we had a quick picnic before the festivities got underway. Soon, it was time. The tree was lit, songs were sung, and the music and lights show was underway. The kids had a great time looking at the lights and dancing. It was a great little outing to kick off the Christmas season!

Mirror Mirror

Due to some construction in one of our bathrooms this week, the bathroom mirror was in the family room for a little bit. Who knew babies would find so much entertainment in something as simple as a mirror.

Handsome Hat Boy

It's been pretty rainy and chilly all week so I thought it was best to bundle my little guy up whenever we went out- lucky for me he LOVES hats!!! Everywhere we go he tells people, "I wear hat, I handsome"... cracks me up!!!

Ben-isms

Driving home from school one day this week:

Ben: mommy, what are we doing when we get home?
Me: having some lunch and then it will be nap time
Ben: but I'm really not tired today
(2 minutes later I look back because it's so quiet and see this)

Flashbacks: Ben and Nathan

I think it is so fun to go back and compare the boys, when they wore the same thing or were the same age. They have the same crystal blue eyes and same silly personality but they are still very much their own person. Here's a flashback:
